"Rocky Mountain Lichen" Series

Same shawl as in the photo below, this time knotted to show the drape and flow of the fabric.  There are three shawls in this series: Lime & Dark Blue, All Lichen Colors, and Lime & Black.   

The shawl shown here is lime and dark blue.

"Rocky Mountain Lichen" Series—detail

Detail of the shawl in the photo above. Renditions of the lichen I often see while hiking in the mountains.  The green is three colors of bamboo thread mixed to make a color reminiscent of lichen.  Each shawl is woven with a different color over the lichen green—from left: dark blue (bamboo & Tencel); one of the lichen greens (all bamboo) ; black (bamboo & silk).

This detail of the kimono-jacket above shows the subtle stripes in the body of the garment as well as the whimsical squares that outline the bodice, the hem and the cuffs.

"Copper Grasses"

I obtained the copper color here by mixing three different-colored very fine threads to make a copper. The black is solid black. This shawl evokes the copper color of grasses at dusk outside my Montana studio.
